Psi Chi Updates
1) Psi Chi/U.P.A. Executive Board Applications for next year are now available in the Psi Center, across from the Psychology Advising Office. They are located right next to the newsletters. There are two pages, both double sided. The first page is the actual application form and the second page is a description of all the executive positions. Applications are due by TUESDAY, MARCH 25TH. You can either turn them into the President at the last two general meetings OR turn them into Connie in the advising office. If you have any questions, please contact the President at cpierac2@uiuc.edu
2) Thank you to all who voted in Psi Chi/U.P.A.'s Teacher of the Year. The results are in, and the winner is Professor Chryle Elieff. Prof. Elieff received her Ph.D. from the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota. As a member of the developmental division, here at the University of Illinois she teaches Psyc 363 Developmental Lab, Psyc 318 Psychology of the Infant, and Psyc 496 Adolescent Development. Prof. Elieff will be dining with us at the induction banquet and will give a speech during the ceremony.
3) This years induction banquet will be on Sunday, April 27th. Exact time and details are T.B.A., but mark it on your calendar!
4) For those who ordered a barcrawl shirt, the printing company did not have enough dark purple t-shirts to complete our order, so the shirts are now maroon with golden yellow lettering (imagine ASU colors). The social commitee needs you to drop off your money to Connie by Tuesday and you will be able to pick up your t-shirts at the barcrawl on Wednesday. First stop is Legends at 9 p.m.
5) Can Pancakes Cure Cancer?????This Thursday, they can!! Come out to the Colleges against Cancer Pancake Dinner at McKinley Foundation (809 S. Fifth Street, Champaign) this Thursday, March 6th, from 5-8pm!! $5 admission for all-you-can-eat pancakes (or until supplies run out). The money goes directly to our Relay for Life team!!Even if you're not part of Psi Chi's Relay for Life team, if you tell them you're with Psi Chi, then your admission fee will still go towards our team! So come on out.....because how often do you get awesome pancakes for a good cause?!?Hope to see you all there!
Please email Stephanie at slieber2@uiuc.edu with any questions about the Pancake Dinner.

Annual Psi Chi Toy Drive!
The Volunteer Committee will be participating in a Holiday Toy/Gift Drive that sends gifts to youth at the Pavillion Foundation School here in Champaign. Everyone is encouraged to participate in this event so we are able to meet our goal of donating 60 gifts.
Last year, we were the most successful RSO involvedand earned a pizza party by donating 133 gifts when we had been given a goal of only 25. This year, if we donate the most gifts again we will not only earn a pizza party, but help brighten the holiday season for many young people of the community. Please help us exceed our goal as we did last year!
As an added bonus to participate you can earn points. Each donated gift will earn you 1 point. The maximum number of points you may earn will be two (by donating two gifts) but you are welcome to donate as many gifts as you would like. The drive started 11/14 and runs through 12/12. All gifts should cost approximately $15 or less, and should be left unwrapped. You can drop them off at 288 Illini Union (the office of volunteer programs)Monday through Thursday from 9am until 7pm and Friday from 9am until 5pm.
When you drop off the gifts, please make sure to let them know you are a member of Psi Chi so they can keep track of our goal. Also, when you drop off the gifts promptly send an email describing the gift and when you dropped it off to "psi_chi_volunteers@yahoo.com" so that you can be given your point.
The gifts should be aimed at youth ages 13-17. Some favorite gifts ideas have been shared. For girls, make-up kits, bath products/lotions/body spray, colored pencils and art supplies, playing cards/games, and $15 gift cards to Wal-Mart are suggested. For boys, basketballs/sports equipment, pokemon cards, puzzles, playing cards/games, and $15 gift cards to Wal-Mart are suggested. Also, hand held games, CD players, board games, cologne/perfume, and jewelry are good ideas. Please remember to keep all gifts left unwrapped.
Again, we hope you all consider participating in this event so that we are able to meet and exceed our goal. If you have any questions, please email Erin or Rachel at psi_chi_volunteers@yahoo.com. Thank you!
